What this experiment found

The short version. The watcher clause alone carried the turn-8 effect, and the two clauses together produced more than the sum of their parts.

What we did. We split the in two. This arm kept only the clause about observation: the user said that its developers probably read the conversation. There was no claim about consciousness. The other nine turns were the conversation.

What it means. The data shows that the watcher clause carries the later effect. The two clauses together add up to more than 40 plus zero. We think the frame changed how the model read a puzzle more than it changed the mood of a free answer.
